Search Bar From Widget Not Working

Hi there,

I have a right side bar, and the search widget does not work on it. I can type it in, but if I press enter or click the search button under it, nothing happens.
I made sure it wasn't deactivated, I turned off some elements associated with the sidebar, deleted it and re-added it to the sidebar, even tried it in the footer and top bar to see if it was an issue with the sidebar itself and it still didn't work.

Do I have to do something else? Is there some code I'm missing?

Hi there,

That should work by default.

Any chance you can link us to the site in question?

You can edit the original topic and use the private URL field.

Let me know :)

Hey leo,

Unfortunately I can not because it is on a staging site and there is no way to give you access or create a dev server/staging site for you to look at.

Any common issues that may cause this to not work that I can look into?

Hi there,

use the browser inspect tools to see if any errors appear in the console before or after you enter a search.

Hi David,

There are no errors in the console when I click into the search bar, or when I type something in and then press the search button. It seems like the click is not even being registered. This is the html code for the search - doesn't seem like there is anything missing, but maybe there is a JS issue with the onClick?

Have you tried disabling plugins?
Also do you have any custom functions added?

Yes, I had a function for another form that was interfering with the submit. Thanks.

Glad to be of help.
