Replace default footer with one from site library

I feel a bit stupid asking this, but:
How do I replace the default theme footer with one from the site library?
I know how to add elements from the library, but I don't know how to get the footer I have added replace the default one.
It's just sitting above the deafult one currently as I haven't "deleted" or "replaced" the default one in any way.
Also, will wordpress recognise this new footer as the footer? If not, I might just stick to customising the default one.
Hi there,
could you share a link to the site so i can provide the right answer :)
Yes absolutely please see the link added privately
Hi Craig,
When you add this foot as an element, make sure you choose site footer as element type:

Let me know if this helps :)
I don't see any option for element, only page or block
I see, you added this footer into the home page, not to an element.
I would recommend adding it by using a block element, so you don't have to add it to every page, and it can replace the default footer correctely.
Here's a short clip for you:

Elements! I forgot all about them!
Thanks for your help.
You are welcome :)
