Remove the index.php in the middle of permalinks
9 replies · Started by Harvey on January 4, 2021
Hi,
I have started to use the GP theme recently.
In the default permalinks, there is a /index.php/ in the middle. If I remove it in setting->permalinks->Custom Structure, all pages except the homepage will show the 404 error.
I have tried to open the website again in incognito mode, the same error exists.
Is there any more settings to be done besides the one in setting->permalinks->Custom Structure?
Thanks and I look forward to your reply.
Harvey
Hi there,
can you share a link to your site
Have you tried simply changing the Permalink structure from Custom to Post Name ?
Hi David,
I have just tried changing the permalink structure to Post name, and the result remains 404.
When you click Save Changes in Settings > Permalinks its should rebuild the structure.
If thats not working then its generally a httaccess issues on your server - speak with your host as they should be able to help with fixing that.
Hi David,
I rent the centos virtual machine from the cloud service provider. Do you have any guidance on how I should change the structure of the htaccess file?
This article provides HTTAccess codes:

Its towards the very end of the post.
Hi David,
Problem is solved. Thank you very much!

Glad to hear that!
