recent post in widgets with images

Is there a way to add the featured image to the post in my Sidebar widgets.
At the moment the sidebar shows only the Post title of my recent post but I would like to show the featured image as well.

Hi there,
the built in recent posts widget doesn't have the featured image option.
Personally i use the WP Show Posts plugin to create my own recent post list that can be added as a sidebar widget. The free version will do the job:
