[Resolved] Read More not being displayed on category page

Hello,
I’ve go GP set to display the excerpt on layout > blog > archive, but there the ‘read more’ link is missing.

Even if I set the excerpt, shouldn’t the default ‘read more’ link be displayed?

I’ve tried disabling all plugins and still nothing.

Do you mean you are using the excerpt metabox to set custom excerpt?

Hi Leo,
That link was helpful – yes, I’m using a custom excerpt and adding that to my functions.php worked.

However…

if I remove the custom excerpt, the read more disappears. Is there any way to just always display a read more link?

So basically the excerpt metabox is not always used?

Is the customizer option set to show excerpt?

Hi Leo,
The excerpt metabox is always available in the post editor – but it’s not always used – the client may not always add an excerpt.

Customizer option is set to show excerpt.

Just looking for a way to always display the read more link or button whether or not the excerpt metabox has been filled out.
