Read More Link/ Button Not showing on Front Page and Archive Page

Hi,
I started a new website that uses the new Wordpress block Editor.
I have chosen to show the "read more" as a button, and the excerpt length as 30 characters.
The read more functionality does not appear on the front page and archive page, whether as link or as a button.
I do NOT use custom excerpt. I also do NOT have a "space" in my excerpt field.
