Jetpack is definitely compatible with GeneratePress. There might just a be a few settings you need to tweak.
I don’t use social share plugin myself so I’m not sure which one is lightweight.
You will see quite a few results and reviews when googling “social share plugin wordpress”. Best to test a few and which one works for you the best.
If a plugin is built to work with WordPress themes, it will work with GP 🙂

Nope I don’t use a social sharing plugin personally.
Worth googling around. There are lots of reviews/articles out there.
