I have a woocommerce store. A new product that I added to my site is not sorting by name. I have the sort by default selected in the theme customization and all of the other products are sorted by name its just the new one I added?

Hi there,

try clearing any Cache Plugins you have in place, and also in Woocommerce > Status > Tools there are Transient and Template caches. Try clearing them.

Hi David,
I cleared all of the cache - no change. when is sort by most recent, it put the new product right at the start but it won't put the new product in place when I switch back to default. It's very odd.

Can you share a link to the archive so i can take a closer look ?

I would be more than happy to if you could tell me how. lol

If you can copy the URL from your browser.
Then paste it into the Private Information field in your next reply :)

is this what you need?

Yep :)
So the Product Catalog Sorting is set to Default?
Have the products been manually sorted in the Product list ?

I tried clicking on the sorting option in the product list. it then shows me all the products in alpha listing or if I've filtered by category it will sort the list by alpha for just that category. However, when I go out of the product list and come back in they're back to the order in which they were added. Am I missing a step?

Hi David,

I wanted to let you know just in case you are checking on my site - I'm going to change my sort order to most recent just so the new products I added don't look out of order to my potential customers. I'll wait for your reply if you're able to see why the default sort is not working.

Thanks so much for your help

Linda

I had a nose around the Woo forums, and others have reported 'odd' behaviour with the sorting, but there wasn't a specific thing that was identified as the cause. Each case was just as unique as it was a little bizarre.

Common suggestions i read included:

Updating the Products Published Date.
Deleting and recreating the problem product.

David,

Thank you so much - it sounds like a woo issue. Whewww thought it was me. I'll try changing the publish date to see if that works.

Linda

Yeah - i seen Woo do some weird things occasionally, generally sorting issues are to do with the woo caches. But there have been times i have had to delete a product and start again.

Let us know how you get on :)
