Problem activing GeneratePress
6 replies · Started by Harvey on June 4, 2021
I was playing around with the plugin Code Snippets (to reset the Color Palette in GP) on a Local by Flywheel install when a problem occurred that I haven't been able to undo: the GP Customizer is unusable.
Everything's up to date, I have deactivated all the plugins and even deleted the Code Snippets plugin. When I activate the theme Twenty Twenty-One and go to the Customizer, everything looks normal. Wen I activate the theme GeneratePress, I immediately see a screen full of error msgs. Here are two screenshots of the top and bottom of the screen:

Note that the theme is still activated. If I go to the Customizer, there's nothing to see. See the screenshot:

Note that navigator says "Customizer Loading..."
How do I get the GP Customizer back and operational?

Hi there,
That's strange. We haven't had any other reports on this.
This is happening with all custom functions and plugins disabled?
Have you modified the parent theme file at all?
Yes, all plugins are disabled. Since the problem happened while I was trying to change the Color Palette of GP using Code Snippets, I even deleted Code Snippets -- that didn't make any difference.
Tough for us to identify the issue without seeing the site.
Can you start a staging site and duplicate the issue there?
Leo,
Since I'm at a very early stage with a new site, I'm going to reset it to zero and see if that cures the problem. I'm sorry to not take the time to help you identify the problem, but I do need to keep moving. You can mark as resolved if you like.
I would like to ask a question: how do you guys launch a new site with your standard plugins already in place? Is there a particular tool you use for that? Or...?
Harvey
Leo,
I nuked the site with WP Reset and the Customizer for GP came back!
I'll let you know if I learn anything more.
Harvey
Sounds good :)
