primary catergory only

you know how when you click on an article, if it's catergorised in 2 categories, both of the categories are highlighted in the navigation.
is there a way for the navigation to only have the primary category highlighted?

there are other combinations. that's just an example
Can you explain a bit more on how your site's primary category determined? Is it from a plugin? (example: Yoast can assign a primary category)
This information is crucial as that's what we're going to use if we need to PHP filter it.
