Is there a way to preload a video in the page header so that it doesn’t take so long to load? I’m wondering if there’s a setting I’m missing, or something I can add via Hooks.

Not currently, your best bet is to find a video with the smallest file size you can – that’s typically what backgrounds videos are for. Don’t use huge HD videos basically 🙂
makes sense. is there a file size range you recommend?
The max I would do is 15MB, but it depends on your audience and what kind of internet speeds you’ll want to accommodate.
