The width of the article is narrow and I feel cramped.
I want to display more characters horizontally in the article body without changing the box width.
Please tell me how to increase the number of characters displayed horizontally on the posting screen.

Hi Hiroki,

First off, try removing these max-width codes in Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS: https://share.getcloudapp.com/bLuKxYjr

Also see: https://share.getcloudapp.com/geumdxw9

These code are currently controlling the width of your content.

You can also simply alter them if you want.

Once you’ve removed those, you may set the Container Width through Appearance > Customize > Layout > Container as such: https://share.getcloudapp.com/04uELG0J

As shown above, you may also set the Content Padding there.

Alternatively, you may also set a Content Width through a Layout Element: https://share.getcloudapp.com/jkuvmgo8

Hope this clarifies.

Thank you Fernando.
As explained, I was able to change the content width after removing the CSS! This may be barren, but why was it restricted? Is it a design?
And what are the benefits of using layout elements as suggested?

Yes, that’s correct. The Additional CSS added when importing the specific template you have from the site library is for design.

With regards to the benefits of using a Layout Element, here is a helpful article which discusses the functionalities of this specific feature: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/layout-element-overview/

The Container width in the customizer controls the Header and Footer as well. The Layout Element can only control the Content width.

Hope this clarifies! :)

Thank you for the simple and easy-to-understand explanation.

You’re welcome Hiroki! Glad to be of assistance! Feel free to reach out anytime you’ll need assistance with anything else. :)
