Paul
Hi,
I noticed my portfolio is missing after I updated my theme to GP – my former theme was Kansas by Zest Themes. In the dashboard there was a section called Portfolio, not sure what to do but none of the pages (approx 70) are not found. I have a full back up. Let me know your thoughts. I’m assuming they can be extracted somehow and be categorized as posts now?
Thanks.December 27, 2019 at 9:34 pm #1115669Leo
StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
I assume that’s a CPT specifically built-in to the previous theme.
Not sure if it’s possible to extract it though, you’d need to check with the support of the previous theme.

Hi Leo,
I’m not sure but will check. Any other thoughts on how to recover those items?

StaffCustomer SupportUnfortunately not.
I’d assume it would be the same if you go from the previous theme to a default twenty series theme.

Hey Paul,
You could try this approach:
- Switch back to the previous theme (Kansas)
- Install the CPT UI plugin, and create a new custom post type.
- Install the Post Type Switcher plugin, and convert your portfolio posts to your newly created post type.
- Switch your theme back to GP
Registering your new post type with the CPT UI plugin keeps the post type and content independent of the theme.
Hope that helps.

Hi Duncan,
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated! It sounds like that could work. My only concern is loosing the settings in the customizer. Could the plugins be deleted after the switch?

StaffCustomer SupportDoing the steps above should have no effects on GPs customizer settings.
And it should be safe to remove the plugins after.

Leo,
Could you help me with creating the hooks for the newly created post type “Projects” so they appear just like the blog single post types? I’d also like some help with creating a Project page just like the blog page to display all the projects. Thanks!

StaffCustomer SupportAny chance you can open a separate topic for this?
Thanks π

Hi Leo,
My understanding was I’d be able to delete the plugin, when I do the custom post type disappears – am I missing anything?

StaffCustomer SupportHmm I guess you’d have to keep the plugin activated unfortunately.
