Placing a hero slider under a transparent site menu, w/ the new Header approach

Hi. I built my site a few months ago before your latest update. Now I want to do a redesign. I've backed up and cloned the site and have that in a subdirectory now. I'm a novice at GP, and okay with Elementor (free) basics. I want to place a Smart Slider 3 slider as my hero image under my existing transparent menu. How do I do that? I'd greatly appreciate step by step settings advice, not just saying "use xyz tool" which for a novice like me isn't useful. Thanks.
Hi there,
are you wanting to have static text from the page header overlaying the slider?
What I want to have over the top of the slider is my logo/menus/social media buttons like you can see on my current site. The Smart Slider itself can take car of any text within any of the slider images. Thanks.
OK, then that should be fairly simple.
So first off you need to create the Smart Slider and make sure its full width responsive.
They provide this guide if of any use:
https://smartslider3.com/9-point-checklist-creating-best-responsive-slider/
Then add the smart slide shortcode to the Page Header content area.
Then its just a case of using the same merged site header settings you have on current page header.
Thanks, David! Where specifically in the Page Header UI do I add the Smart Slider shortcode?
Looks like you are still using Page Headers (as opposed to the Element > Header), if thats the case then in the Page Header > Content tab, just paste the shortcode into the text editor.
Page Headers was what was available when I made the website several months ago. I realize now there is the Elements feature... I'd love to use that instead now, but I guess it will be a learning curve for novice me to transfer what I currently have in the header on over. So maybe I should leave it alone and as is with the old UI? What do you recommend?
You dont need to if you don't want to. But this guide steps through the use of the Element Headers
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/hooks-element-overview/
And this shows you how to transfer Page Headers to a Header Element:

Thanks! :)
You're welcome. Let me know how you get on with the Slider :)
