[Support request] Perplexing Problem editing the footer element

Using the Clinic theme in the site library is really confusing me and I can figure out what the issue is.

I have no caching plug-ins enabled. No CDN enabled. I also clear browser cache to check how the page renders. The issue is when I make text changes to the blocks the text doesn’t show up at all. I can do everything one would expect (copy, move, add, delete block, etc) but they are not visible … even when I’ve specified the text color.

Now for the part that floors me. If I view changes AFTER updating the footer element and add ?nocache to the end of the URL it DOES show up. Obviously it’s being cached somewhere but for the life of me I can’t figure out where.

To recap no caching plug-ins used, no CDN used, no Varnish or other reverse proxies associated with the server.

Anyone have any clues as to what may cause this?

A followup. I need to learn to recheck disabled plug-ins. I disabled WP Rocket and selected the option to disable it for seven days. Evidently it reenabled itself after 1 day. I think this “may” have been the issue. I’ve completely deleted the plugin while I customize the elements and test things out. I’ll reinstall WP Rocket when completed and if it still occurs I’ll take it up with WP Rocket.

Otherwise if anyone else has a thought I should look into let me know.

Hi Scott,

You can also try ?nowprocket=1 instead of ?nocache to further test if it’s indeed from WP Rocket.

If it’s indeed WP Rocket, and you’ve cleared the cache of it, it may be good to try disabling its optimization features one by one to test if one of them is causing the issue.

Reaching out to them is a good idea as well indeed.

It’s WP Rocket. I’ve completely uninstalled it and the issue is gone. When I’m done editing/customizing the theme I’ll reinstall it. The odd thing is it only displays that behavior on elements – no pages or posts.

I see. It could be a CSS Optimization causing the issue as well as opposed to just caching.

More often than not, any form of CSS minification/combination causes issues. Hope it goes well after you reinstall it.
