Page title will not show

I have following a video on creating a page header for my about us page, but when I add the page title as shown in the video <h1>Staying connected with the next generation can be easier than you think</h1> It does show, all I get is a large white box? I am NO techie and at 73 may be pushing my limits, but I still try. Can someone point me in the right direction? I am attempting to redo my site using Generate press but it is a becoming a real challenge.
