og:description, woocommerce, and Facebook posting

Hi Gents

First of all- thanks for an awesome product. Lean, clean, seamless, flexible, and your support is fantastic. Cheers.

Not sure if this falls on your side of the fence, but if you could point me in the right direction, that would be swell. I have yoast, woocommerce, and a host of other typical plugins.

Issue #1:
I created my first product, and I was excited to share a link to it on my Facebook page. While other blog posts I've made to FB carry the meta tag description and look fine, for some reason the FB post for the woocommerce product shows the bare naked HTML. The product image looks fine, however.

Issue #2 (which is suspect might be related to issue #2):
The title for the product page that was defined in wordpress and Yoast simply keeps the default title "Product Archives" when shared on social/messaging. Something is happening and the meta info is being cut off?

I refused to install Jetpack because I have enough tools to work with already. Is this disconnect happening because Jetpack is necessary for the above things to be done smoothly/correctly?

Hey Michael,

It just looks like Facebook is wrongly picking up inline CSS. I believe Yoast has fields where you can provide descriptions that will be picked up by Facebook. Are those fields not working? If not, it may be worth checking with their support.

What do you mean by the meta info being cut off? Can you show me?

Hey Tom- thanks for the quick reply!

I promise this will be the last time I bug you because this really appears to be a woocommerce/yoast/facebook issue. BUT.. if you point me to the right company to solve the issue, that would be really helpful. I've honestly googled the shit out of this topic and have come up empty handed.

So yeah, I entered the info in the yoast fields for the product page, but they aren't tracking through to social posts. Nor are the titles/slugs.

Here's a series of screenshots. I suspect the issue is in the last one on the woocommerce product page? The wooc. product page has 4 areas:
1. the detailed product description (where the page builder is at the top)
2. the yoast stuff
3. the pricing/payment setup and
4. the woocom 'short product description' field/editor at the bottom. This is the part that social is trying to pick up, but is traditionally not part of a normal post... so the code is all jacked up?

Hi there,

are you using the Yoast Woocommerce Plugin:

They pushed a lot of the functionality into this premium plugin.
