Notification bell

Hi,
I know this is a shot in the dark, but I was just wondering if it is possible or is there a plugin out there that people can click on to notify them of new content that is posted in much the same way as you would click on the bell on youtube?

Not that I'm aware of, unfortunately. I'll keep an eye out, and maybe someone who knows will see this topic and reply :)

Thanks for that. I have heard of push notifications but I haven't implemented them because I am unsure would they be compromising privacy of the visitor.
