Not able to edit/add top bar widget anymore

Suddenly I'm not able to edit the widgets for the Top Bar placement.
I am trying to edit a HTML Widget which I've had in the Top Bar for over a month but whatever I do it shows the error "Something went wrong. Reload the page and try again."
I've tried deleting the widget and adding it again, I've tried choosing another widget than HTML. I don't want to remove it and save in the customizer, because I'm afraid I can't get it back.

what happens if you try editing from the Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets ?
Ah, yes works perfectly from there!
I am not sure why WP occasionally has an issue with the customizer settings. It may be a plugin conflict causing that. Glad to hear that worked though!
