New Website, Plugin for Multilinguale

Hello together,
i have the assignment to build this page (private Area) new: with a lightweight theme; For more Pagespeed.
There, at the old page, I used WMPL, but this made the Website very slow. Do you have an alternative which is compatible to our theme?
I have searched in the forum but I didn't find a solution.
So also the question for a lightweight cookie-Plugin :).

the two most common Translation plugins we see being used are WPML and Polylang. Some users state that Polylang is more performant...
For cookie plugin - these seems to be the go to plugin:
