    Hi guys,

I’ve created a page called Blog (main menu) and I’ve set it to be my Posts page.

I’m now struggling with a few things:

1: How do I change the font size and colour for the Post?
    2. How do I set a featured image for the post?
    3. When I click the “read more” button, I’m not directed to the actual post.

I’m basically a little confused with how to set up a blog page in generate press, and all help would be very welcome.

    Thanks,

    Lee.

Ok, I’ve figured out the featured image.

I’m still stuck on the other bits though.

Also, Can you please tell me how I can get the content (Header) from the actual Blog Page to show at the top of the page? At the moment, only a snippet of the post content is showing.

    Many thanks again,

    Lee.

    Hi Lee,

1: How do I change the font size and colour for the Post?

Blog post title are H2, so you can change fonts at Customizing > Typography > Headings > H2, change colors at Customizing > Colors > Content > Archive Content Title.

Post content are paragraph, so changes can be made at Customizing > Typography > Body and Customizing > Colors > Body > Text Color.

    3. When I click the “read more” button, I’m not directed to the actual post.

Actually you are directed to the actual post, the problem is you only have 1 post. If you have 2 or more posts, you’ll see the difference 🙂

    Let me know 🙂

    Thank you for this.

I’ve created a second post and I can see what you mean. Although, the button for the first post created doesn’t seem to take me through to the actual post. The button for the second post does though.

Also, I have my H2 headings strategically used on the website for design and specific keyword purposes – to change alter the H2 headings would alter things on the website that I don’t want to alter. It would be great to could use a different heading number for Blog posts such as H6? Is there a way I could set the H6 headings for my blog titles?

    Many thanks again,

    Lee.

    Hi there,

in Customizer > Typography > Headings – you will see the Archive Content Title (H2) – this is for specifically stying the H2 on your Blog/Archives. So you can use this without affecting any H2 used in your content.

Your first, the permalink is set to the Blog itself, edit the post and check the Post slug and permalink – if they are the same as any other page on your site – they will not work…. probably best to just delete the test post and move on 🙂

    Thanks David,

I’m also struggling with a couple of other things:

    1. I can’t seem to edit the actual Blog page. The heading “Blog” doesn’t seem to show, or any content that I put within this page doesn’t show. The only things that show are the blog posts that I’m submitting. And although I can edit the content of the posts, I cant seem to edit how they appear on the Blog page.

    2. Also, could you please tell me how I might insert the main heading/date/author/category inside the featured image for each post?

    Many thanks again,

    Lee.

    1. The Blog ( ie. the page you set to display your latest posts in Setting > Readings ) is not a regular page. Its a WP function that outputs your post loop, so you cannot edit the page, as the Post Loop replaces that.

To configure it you can use the GP Blog Module:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/blog-content-layout/

If you want to add content to that page, ie. before posts are you can use the Elements Module. For example a Header Element:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/header-element-overview/

    or a Block Element:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-overview/

Each Element has a set of Display Rules – and there is a specific Blog location for your blog.

    2. This is where you would use a Header Element set to Display: Posts > All Posts

We provide a few examples here:

    Thanks David,

I’ve used this information and I’ve pretty much got the post on “muscle memory” looking as I want it. However, how would I remove the add comments at the bottom of the page? I’ve tried a few things but nothing seems to be working for me.

Also, I’m really struggling to figure out how to make any changes to the Blog Page. I’d like to for each blog post to be displayed with the featured image and an exert from the original post.

I’d also like to narrow the content of the page (not full width), and I’ve like the Post headings to be black (not blue).

Again, I’ve tried a number of things but I can’t seem to figure it out.
    Many thanks again.

    Hi Lee,

how would I remove the add comments at the bottom of the page?

For your future posts, You could go to Settings > Discussion, uncheck the option that says “Allow people to post comments on new articles”.

For other cases, here’s an article that could help 🙂
    https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-completely-disable-comments-in-wordpress/

each blog post to be displayed with the featured image and an exert from the original post.

The featured image should show if you uploaded one and it’s activated in customizer > layout > blog.
    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/adjusting-the-featured-images/

The default excerpt isn’t working as the post content is inside a nested block (Generateblocks). It’s currently a wordpress core issue that still needs to be addressed by the core:
    https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/excerpt-blank-for-some-generateblocks-combinations/#post-1321454

The temporarily solution for this is using the custom excerpt meta box in each post.
    https://www.screencast.com/t/ptVBEbVP91

narrow the content of the page

The setting is located at Customize > Layout > Container.
    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/container-width/

Post headings to be black (not blue).

It can be changed at Customizer > Colors > Content > Archive Content Title.

    Hope this helps 🙂
