[Support request] Need some ideas: Deferring load of content

I’m using elementor in conjuction with Generatepress. Maybe this is not the best place to ask this, but since a lot of people around here have a lot of experience maybe someone can give me a hint.

I need to create a modal that loads the content within, onclick not onload.

I’m thinking how to make this without involving a lot of code and modifying the theme assets. For example, when clicking a nav menu element, it opens the modal and loads the content within that modal. The reason of not loading the content on page load, is because it will be in all the pages, and it has a lot of images, so it will slow down the load of a lot of people that will never use that functionality.
