Navigation always on top

Hello!
I'm trying to make #site-navigation stay on top of everything, no matter what. Z-index: # doesn't work. Even if I set the z-index of everything else to "-#".
The problem appears when i move .hfeed up with margin-top: -#px. .Hfeed just rolls over the navbar.
