After installing the theme, when I click on personalization the site causes all links to be clicked to generate a file called “download”. Has anyone had the same problem?

Never heard this before.
I would say disable all plugin first to eliminate any conflicts.
If that doesn’t help then check with your host to see if they have any ideas.

You want to discover the plugins that can confilto and see if it solves the problem.
Can it be something cache, minify or GZIP Maybe ..
