[Resolved] "more" is not showing on archive when manual excerpt is set

We use a manual excerpt for most of our posts.
That made the customizer settting of no effect.

Any hints on how to use the excerpt and still have a “more…” link?

I tried to add a filter like explained here https://codex.wordpress.org/Excerpt.

It didn’t work 🙁

the Excerpt Word Count only applies to the auto generated excerpt. This article explains how to add the read more for manual excerpts:
