Migrating from Elementor

I know it's stressful to rebuild your site, at lease it's a good start that you know how to set up a staging site :)

I set up post templates in Elementor that serve up queries, so for example I post on Category 1, it loads into the main page and also goes to Category 1 using Advanced Custom Fields. Category 2 posts automatically go onto that page, etc.

I'm not familiar with Elementor, maybe that's why I can't understand your question.

Isn't this the same as the default WordPress settings? If you post a post called Post-A, and it belongs to category 1, thenPost-A will appear on the Blogpage and the category 1 archive page.

Thanks, Ying for the YT list. I'll probably just binge-watch the vids for a couple of days until I get the lay of the land. Maybe WP has an archive setting but I went over to the dark side and bought into Elementor with its Advanced Custom Fields.

Maybe not stressful but definitely annoying to have to rebuild when I could have not learned E and instead built out with GP instead.

Yeah actually. I wrote Tom saying he could set up another great profit center by having devs to help people migrate which he thought was a good idea but not enough bandwidth to implement. I'm sure there are hundreds if not thousands of people who would love to find a good inexpensive dev to perform this. Any idea of the cost for a dev to migrate from E to GP? My site has maybe 40 posts so still fairly new. Just a ballpark would be helpful. Thanks.

Just going to chime in here as a user in the process of doing the very thing at the moment. I'm not a dev (but feel like one sometimes with the super helpful GP folks always willing to help) and had a bit of a nightmare the first time I tried to use GP a few years ago. I started migrating all sites across fully to GP last year and it has gotten soooooooooooo much easier with the way the GP elements work now and will get even easier when WP 5.8 rolls out.

I am somewhat mortified by how much I used to rely on Elementor and some of the sites are a daunting prospect to move across (assuming you're in the same boat). And you won't regret it - not just because of those pretty A scores on speed, but because your overall stress levels of things going to pot will be vastly reduced.

What I've found super helpful is using a local setup (like fLywheeel) which I use to install every single one of the demo sites and then use those as a base to learn as much as I can about how the GP system works without the risk - especially when I intentially try and break things on the local setup :-)

Thanks Antoinette for the support. Yeah I don't code so Elementor was option 1. Now that GP blocks are out I'm all in. Thanks for the tip for flywheel, I don't know that site but I'll have a look at it. I have a staging site set up now. With all my other tasks I'm 6 months behind on I'm sure it will take forever just getting my feet wet now. One thing is for sure you don't have a lot of time to sit doing this. Thanks again.
