Matching wp show post grid with generatepress

So i had to figure out a way to show posts from a specific category on the front page - the only idea i came up with was wp show post plugin. Unfortunately the styling doesnt at all match the category archive post on other pages. i solved it by using wp show post on all pages, effectively rendering most of the options of the blog customizer useless and running into a bunch of other problems.

Is there a better way to do this?
