I work mostly in pages on my website at froeslevmors.dk
When I have made my page look great, the only way I know, to make all the pages in that specific area look the same, is to copy the entire page, delete the content and save it as a new page. I have only made Forening>Frøslev & Omegn so far.But what if, some day, I wish to change the layout on thees pages. With my way, I will need to go to every single page and apply the changes.
Is there a way, I can make that easier and more “the right way” I need a “master” or a template, but I really can’t figure out how to do that or even how to get it started. I really hope, you can help me!
I use the Gutenbergeditor to build my pages!
July 2, 2020 at 4:52 am #1349271DavidStaffCustomer SupportHi there,
block templates can be created using Gutenberg, but it requires custom development – theres a good article on it here if you’re developer minded:
https://www.billerickson.net/gutenberg-block-templates/
In the future we will be adding block template features to our generateblocks plugin: https://generateblocks.com and GP Premium.
In the meantime i personally limit extensive layout designs to landing pages, and keep most of my post and inner page layout within the theme templates.

In the meantime i personally limit extensive layout designs to landing pages, and keep most of my post and inner page layout within the theme templates.
That was what I thought I could do. But can I have several theme templates, and how do I edit them?
July 2, 2020 at 5:52 am #1349342DavidStaffCustomer SupportDo you have an example of the changes you want to make?
July 3, 2020 at 1:34 pm #1351015FutteI’m not sure, I fully understand your question, but if you take a look at my website froeslevmors.dk and go to Foreninger>Frøslev & Omegn, you can see, that I have tried to make all the pages in that area look the same, with it’s own menu etc. So far, I have only worked on the content, and have not looked into the layout yet – I will probably need to add pictures and other stuff later.
Does that give you an idea of the changes I want to make? Later I need to make several areas similar to Frøslev & Omegn, with it’t own menu and layout.
July 4, 2020 at 1:15 am #1351350DavidStaffCustomer SupportFor that layout i would first use the Theme Sidebar.
You can enable them for individual groups of pages using the Layout Metabox:https://docs.generatepress.com/article/layout-metabox-overview/
or dynamically using the Layout Element:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/layout-element-overview/
This will remove the need to edit individual pages to make changes to a sidebar layout, or its style or its content. If the Menus within your sidebar are different for different pages then the Conditional Menus plugin is what you need.
This would also remove the need of the Columns Block, which puts the content padding control under the theme.
At this time Full Site Editing using the Block Editor is not available in Gutenberg, possibly it will be out later this year, but theme templates with blocks are lot longer away. Although we are working on GPP 1.11 that will add some of theme level editing capabilities.

July 7, 2020 at 12:28 am #1354776FutteHi David
I need additional help with this.I have now made 2 pages, that need different menus. I have installed the Conditional Menus plugin, and added the conditions. The 2 pages are Frøslev & Omegn and Frøslev Skole
It works, except I want to show the menus in my left sidebar. For now, the menus are showing on a top bar. How do I get them into the left sidebar. I have tried all the opportunities I can think of, so please help me 🙂
July 7, 2020 at 12:59 am #1354804DavidStaffCustomer SupportAre you using the Secondary Nav for the dynamic menu?
If so you can set its Customizer > Layout > Secondary Navigation –> Location to Sidebar.
