making new pages from a template

really struggling to understand how to merely add pages from a template where all I need to do is make a new page, save it with a name like "boating" and then use that page to quickly build other pages using "boating" as a template to where all I have to do is make a new page and name it "whatever" and change text and image and have all the formatting from the "boating" template. Or create a page and "save it as" (numerous other pages with new names). Really confusing to use header and hero's ... just want to make a page, save it, make another page save as etc.
Can't this be done in GP?

From personal experience i use the New Draft option ( not the Clone option ) of the plugin.
