On another note, Elvin, in case you have the time . . .
I just noticed that the images are not being displayed in the posts under Exercises:
https://understand-culture.com/exercises/See, for example, Game Day:
https://understand-culture.com/category/exercises-list/game-day-exercises-list/I was able to reinsert the images on Interview Notes (only three posts):
https://understand-culture.com/category/exercises-list/interview-quotes-exercises-list/Can you, please, check that out?
Thank you.John
July 16, 2021 at 7:42 am #1857958DavidStaffCustomer SupportLets try and resolve the Excerpt issue first 🙂
If you can raise a separate topic regarding the images, so we don’t get tied up.So when checking the site and a single post, the fact that the Excerpt option in the Customizer is not working means something is interfering with that function. I went through the normal checklist of manual excerpts, more tags and post formats which could cause the problem – and it looks to be no problems there.
Also checked your code snippets and again theres nothing that would affect.
I can’t access the Theme editor, so i cannot check if modifications have been made to the theme files. I’ll assume not.
So the last thing is a potential plugin conflict.
If you can temporarily disable all plugins aside from GP Premium and then test the Customizer excerpt option to see if it works, then we can identify or eliminate a plugin conflict.July 16, 2021 at 7:44 am #1857959JohnGot it, David. I’ll disable all plugins and give it a whirl. Back to you in a minute. Thanks !

Unfortunately, that – disabling all plugins except GP Premium – did not solve the problem.

Can you try deactivating this snippet in the Code Snippets plugin?: https://www.screencast.com/t/SQP6LeX3HHr
It’s telling the theme to never use excerpts.
Let me know 🙂
July 17, 2021 at 12:15 am #1858728JohnHello Tom,
I just deleted … by accident, instead of deactivating … that snippet. Yes, it re-enabled excerpting. However, I do not want to excerpt the overwhelming majority of posts, which are under Patterns. They are moderate in length.
I want to excerpt only posts under Discussions, because in the individual Q&As my responses are simply too long.
Two things:
1. Can you, please, send me the snippet which I boneheadedly deleted instead of deactivating? I cannot find the key-combination on my German Mac for the straight vertical line apostrophe. Sorry for the invconvenience. I only know of:
´ ` ‘
2. This technical problem might just be a blessing in disguise. Perhaps I should rethink providing long responses in the Q&As.
Thanks, Tom !

Wait, stop !
My response above missed the point. Let me backtrack here:
I deleted the snippet. I then chose Customizer_Layout_Blog_Archives_50 (word count). That worked. All posts were excerpted. With that I think I answered your question, namely that the excerpting function works fine.
Ok, so the question is: Is it possible to customize post-excerpting, in the sense of defining which kinds are excerpted, and which should never be excerpted?
If this is too complex, and would in any way make the site unstable, I prefer to forgoe this customization. As I wrote above, perhaps this is a signal to me that I should not provide long responses to Q&As.
Thanks again, Tom, for your patience.
John
P.S. My experience thusfar with you and your colleagues in GP Support has been just great. See the bottom of Imprint on my site here:
July 17, 2021 at 4:50 pm #1859449DavidStaffCustomer SupportWould it be possible to resolve this topic.
Then we can start afresh with the a list of which category terms that should show:1. No Excerpt
2. Excerpt
3. Full ContentJuly 17, 2021 at 10:14 pm #1859553JohnYes, David. I will resolve this topic now, and then open a new entitled: “No Excerpt”
Thank you for your patience on this !
