Link doen's open in new screen, although it is set

I have problems with links. If I set them on 'open in a new screen', it still opens in the same screen.
I tried to solve it by deactivating all my plugins, but this doesn't work. The problem appears both while using Elementor, as using the classic pagebuilder, so I think it is in the theme.
I am an enthousiastic (pr) user of GeneratePress. I already made several websites with your theme, in combination with Elementro. Never had this problem before.

I imported an example from the Generatepress website: Flint Skin bold. This is a website with GeneratePress in combination with Elementor Free: see https://generatepress.com/site-library/

GP wouldn't interfere with the content of your page.
And the content is from Elementor and that link doesn't have the target="_blank" attribute required to open it in a new tab.
How do you add the Open in new tab option?
