jQuery not defined after migration

Hello the GP team.

I am running into jQuery errors but only after I migrate a website.

For example, I have a new site that when I migrated to the live domain is now showing multiple jQuery errors in the console.

The url is - https://www.hardscapesolutions.ie . There were no errors on the test domain (which was on the same server?). The test domain is https://hardscape-solutions.webbuddy-test.com

That site is quite basic at the back end, using GPP with Elementor Pro. I cannot access anything at the back-end due to the JS errors.

This has happened to three sites I tried to migrate. I have tried manually migrating and also using migration tools (wp-migrate, all-in-one migration). I have checked the jQuery folder contents and folder permissions and everything is as it should be.

What could be causing this?

That's strange - the jQuery file is enqueued in the source code, but the console is saying there's an error inside the actual jQuery file (which I doubt).

Maybe something became corrupt during the migration. What happens if you upload a fresh wp-includes folder on your server?

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the quick response.

I tried that. Re-uploaded a fresh version of wp-includes from Wordpress.org, cleared the browser cache but still the same errors.

The site is not using any cache or minification plugins. I am migrating the sites the same as I have done in the past (without issue previously). Only happening with GPP with Elementor Pro. I tried another migration of a simple site with the default theme (Twenty Nineteen) and that was fine?

I asked my host if it was a server configuration issue and they said no, which makes sense, I am moving it from one domain to another on the same server. I have checked both (domains) have the same version of PHP, SQL etc and everything matches.

If I perform a fresh install of WordPress on the target domain it does not have the errors?

I'm confused but also a bit concerned, I have clients waiting for these to go live.

***SOLVED***

Hello Tom,

I decided to try and upload a clean version of both wp-includes and wp-admin to the destination root folder and that seems to have corrected all the issues. Once I cleared my browser cache after that, all seems ok.

Many thanks for your great support, as always you are very quick with responses and suggestions. Love working with GeneratePress.

Regards,
James

Glad you got it sorted! :)
