Hi there,
I need to modify some plugin template files, but they are not visible in GP Theme Editor files list.
I need a help on how to import, so they can be visible in GP Theme Editor list.
After import do you think is better to add also a GP child theme, so that future GP updates won't loose any changes.
(or because are extra files doesn't affect any GP updates?)

Please be as much specific as you can.
Thanks for your support!
Cheers :)

Hi Francesco,

The theme editor is a WordPress core feature which GP (or any themes) cannot control or alter.

I don't believe you can add plugin files in there as it's a theme editor.

What exactly are you trying to achieve? We usually have filters all throughout the premium plugin that you can use the modify the code.

A child theme only allows you to keep changes you made to the parent theme and not any of the plugins - there is usually no need to edit the plugin at all so the changes you make there won't be saved during updates.

Ok so you mean I cannot add template plugin files here?

I'm trying to edit some EDD template files like: shortcode-content-cart-button.php
But since I'm using GP template I cannot edit them directly. (I can only use ftp file editing)
Just trying to edit them in an easy way.

Thanks for your support.

Hmm no I don't believe you can add the plugin template files to the theme files.

Please submit my question to your colleagues so they can try to find a solution for me.
Thanks

This is a WordPress question rather than a theme question so we can only provide limited support here.

If you add the file through FTP, does it show up there?

You will definitely want to use a child theme for that.

Yes the files showed up in GP theme editor file...and I can also edit them.
Just not sure which file is working...the original in edd position or the new one in GP?
Any idea?

If you use a child theme then the template in the child theme should overwrite the original template from EDD.

Make sure you are using a child theme from this.

You can also check with EDD's support get their recommendation on how to overwrite their own templates.
