does the server have any cache/optimization functions enabled ?
yes, the site is on siteground which has a cache plugin.
Also on other sites I have the same plugin and yet the generatepress importer works
Hmmm... never seen this in Siteground before. I have a test server with them.
I think something may be a little funky with that install. Is it possible to reset that WP install ?
