Images size best practices and how to scale them

Hi,

please see the 2 links in the private information window:

I am dealing with image optimization.

As you can see from the 2 links:

the single course page has a large image as a background of the header. This is a gp block element and the image is taken from the featured image of the page.
I have uploaded a 1200px wide image in order to have a good resolution for large monitors

1) In order to reduce loading time, is it possible to have the same image scaled (and so lighter than the original one) for smaller monitors?
a) for desktop / laptop monitors
b) for mobile screens (Inspecting It does not seem to scale at the moment when emulating a mobile device in chrome)

2) The same for the "all course page" (again see the 2nd link in the private information window)
In this case there is a wpshowposts list that takes the featured image. But that image is at full resolution. How can it be scaled?

Thank you. All the best. Carlo

Hi there,

1. currently there is no option to set Responsive images size for a Dynamic featured image. Its something we're looking into with GB Pro.

2. If your using WPSP free then you can edit the List and enter a specific image size into the fields provided. in WPSP Pro you have an option to choose an attachment size.

Thank you David,

Hope you'll find a solution soon. Loading time is crucial nowadays :)

Yes, it's WPSP pro but I don't find this option in the wpsp Images menu.
(and neither here in the related doc page https://docs.wpshowposts.com/article/images-overview/)
Where can I find it?

Thank you

Since you're concerned with responsive image sizes, you'll have to skip that as well. The current official version's image height and width causes the "Image elements do not have explicit width and height" flag on Google PSI.

It's being reworked though. Here's an alpha version - https://wpshowposts.com/wp-show-posts-1-2-0/ - which allows you to use registered image sizes instead.

Thank you Elvin, I'll test it. I know it's an alpha but I think I've been heard of this version for quite some time now.

Can you tell if it's stable enough to use in a production website?

I've been using it for quite a while. Aside from the old pagination bug, I seems kinda stable.

The main difference between 1.2.0 alpha and the current official version is the image sizing. The rest are new filters or hooks improvement from previous versions.

Thank you Elvin

No problem. :D
