Image in nav menu instead of text

I didn't try that method b/c the way WP menus are generated, where would you even put your own "link code", vs. giving it a style as I've done here?

Since I was able to successfully substitute that image for the text in the main and sticky menu... and subsequently it did in fact show up in the slide out, but doing that made the sub menus disappear.

I know there must be a class I am missing or just need to add to my stylesheet to unhide the submenu.

I hope that makes sense. I honestly have never used a manual/old-style link in the WP menu area unless it was a custom link, but never for an image in place of text.

I might be missing something but that seems like a non-standard way to do it, no? I have no idea where you'd even put that kind of code when creating a conventional WP menu. There' son place for code, only attribute and css class.

the other thing is I am definitely not interested in using a plugin when I've already solved 99% of this with css. I'm not a big fan of adding plugins for something this small :/

For the HTML you would add it to the Navigation Label in place of the normal text.

Definitely doesn't work. There's a missing menu item. I tried an absolutely and full url path and neither one shows an image or the sub-menu.

This doesn't make any sense. It should show right after "Locations" in the mobile slide out and there nothing there. the only way the item shows up is if I just use text. That can't be right.

Is using a url or a plugin the only way to get this to work? There's no css attribute I should be editing like I did on the other navigation menu?

FINALLY fixed it using the url method (good to know btw, thanks!)

But I think there's something very funky going on. My menus are getting moved around every time I save them so they either get deleted or moved to a whole other sub-section. Never happened to me before.
