I just renewed my license for GP Premium. Do I have to download it again?
The confirmation message after renewing the license says that I should do it, but I don't see the point of downloading it again if I can make the upgrades from the dashboard in WP. Can I do the updates from the WP dashboard or I need to make the download from Generatepress site?

no need to download it again. It's just our license software sends the same message to new or renewal purchases.
