I don't understand if I need to create a child theme

Hello, it's the first time I'm using generatepress and the gppremium plugin. I've installed the generatepress theme and I've imported the "Trade" template from site library. Do I need to create a child theme of the generatepress to not lose the customization I will make on theme? I have searched for an answer but didn't find one in the forum.

Child theme is definitely not required - the changes in the customizer will be saved during updates.
