[Resolved] How to Use Blocks

Hello

Please could you give me some assistance as to how to add columns to pages? I am using sections and have found the button on the top left that allows you to add Blocks. I can click on columns but it doesn’t seem to do anything – I can’t see that it creates any columns. I did have a look at the help docs and have tried using the Gridable plugin but that breaks the site.

Hi Charlotte. You cannot use blocks and Sections together. You can create columns with Tom’s Lightweight Grid Columns plugin inside Sections or use WordPress own column blocks.

Thanks – I didn’t realise that Blocks was WordPress and not your theme.

Blocks are new since WordPress 5.0. If you need to create columns in an easy way with no shortcodes/code, I definitely suggest using the block editor instead of Sections.

We’re working on our own block plugin which will bring all of the features of Sections (plus more) into the new block editor 🙂
