How to upload SVG site icon and logo?

Finally had artist create svg logos and images for the site. But Customizer > Site Identity won't let me upload the site icon or logo as svg. I know you can use svg for this (I was sure until now), how do I make it work?
Hi Stephen,
For security purposes, WP doesn't allow to upload SVG files.
You can install a plugin like SVG support to safely upload your SVG to the media library, once the SVG is uploaded, you can either keep the plugin or delete the plugin.

Okay, thanks. I'd seen articles that mentioned using svg images and didn't realize there was an extra step to use them.
