How to stop posts from showing modified date as the publish date

I've noticed this issue after I switched to the theme. For some reason, the posts are showing a modified date if edited in wordpress. for example, if a post was published on January 31st and I edited the post on February 2nd, if you click on the post, it shows you that the publish date is February 2nd when its not.
I don't want that to happen, how can I disable that?

It should not happen if you are using the theme default settings.
Are you using any templates from our site libary?
