How to make featured images responsive with GP?
5 replies · Started by Kemo on December 12, 2018
I'm developing a site and for example on this post: https://unhype.com/health/fitness/yoga/health-benefits-of-yoga/
both featured images and post images are displayed in full-sizes, on my laptop.
on my phone images inside the post are displayed in reduced resolution, but featured images are still in full resolution.
questions:
1. Can I make featured images responsive?
2. How do I control this srcset stuff? Can I set it somehow so, for example, all images sizes are reduced to 80% width of the screen? Even on desktop. Sometimes a writer inserts a really huge image and images on the desktop are never reduced.
appreciate the support!
Hi there,
1. Featured images are responsive by default. I just checked your site and it is indeed responsive. Otherwise, you would see the picture getting cut off.
2. You can adjust the width and height here: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/adjusting-the-featured-images/
Let me know if this helps :)
hey, Leo, thanks for answering!
I'm not sure I understand everything. I'm talking about showing a smaller sized image on smaller screens, in terms of source resolution.
like in the post this image:
https://cdn.unhype.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/man-and-woman-doing-yoga-cobra-pose-at-studio-PYPXZQR.jpg
is shown in reduced resolution on the phone like this:
https://cdn.unhype.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/man-and-woman-doing-yoga-cobra-pose-at-studio-PYPXZQR-1024x683.jpg
I'm just trying to understand how it works and how to do it with the featured image too.
thanks
Does David's reply here help?

not really, but I think I've just found a plugin that should take care of exactly what I wanted:

thanks
Awesome :)
