How do I get a menu for product categories on the left side of the website?

I am using merch theme.

This article explains the Woocommerce module:

You can set the Sidebar for the shop page in the Customizer > Layout > Woocommerce.

The single product uses a hooked in sidebar. See the links i provided in your other topic.
