How to edit the author link in post meta

Hi there,
I would like to edit the author link (as it leads to the homepage which is not very user-friendly and also reveals my username which has potential for hacking) to be showing a pop up (which is more userfriendly) like this site .
How can I go about it?

Hi David, Yes I am. Although I plan to add more authors (writers) in the near future (not very soon, if that matters). :)
The pop-up would require custom development - which is out of our scope.
But the link can be changed - where do you want the link to go ?
I'd want that pop up to be in place. I think I'll get someone onboard for the custom development. Thanks a ton David. :)
