I want to divide my homepage into sections using colors or images to break up the content. These colors or images would serve as the background. Would using DIV containers be the best way to go about this? Also, how would I get that color or image to expand across the entire content area? I would like all the content to have its current padding, but I want that color or image to cover the entire content width. Thanks for your help!

    Hi there,

currently the best option would be to use the GP Sections module:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/sections-overview/

This would provide you with the DIV and inner container with padding and background options.

We are also close to releasing our new Block Plugin which will provide this feature and more in the Gutenberg editor.

The sections don’t work with Gutenberg as you mentioned so that doesn’t help me right now. In the meantime, how do I expand those div containers to cover the full width of the content area? On the example page I gave you, I would just like to extend the red color to the ends of the content area. Thanks!

Would the contained option here work?

If not then I’d recommend looking into a block plugin like Kadence block for now.
