How to customize category page layouts?

Hi,
If I want a different layout for each individual category page (the page that shows up when i click on a certain category), showing the previews of the posts/pages, in different formats for different category pages, how do i go about doing it?
Specifically, I need the format to be like this
ABC
abc1 abc2
abc3 abc4
the above separated into columns where abc1, 2, 3 or 4 are boxes with information in them, which you can click on then it will bring you to another page.
How do i go about doing this? Thank you.
