How to custom width content without converting to block?

Hi,
I'm trying to customize content width.
I can do if i copy and paste html into custom html block inside container - then I can adjust width but that is creating issues now with original post format.
You have:
1. Post attributes: default/elementor full width/elementor canvas/full theme - only elementor fw works with converting post
2. Layout bottom of post edit - Content Container: default/fw/contained - no joy. Has to be full width for hero to work. There was mention there is a custom width section in latest update bottom of post edit page but not seeing it.

3. In customizer - Customizing ▸ Layout ▸ Container - bringing in width doesn't respect hero image in elements. I mean it stays full width if it just remains an element but as advised if I try something like this https://www.numan.com/numankind/sex-pandemic using acontainer for top part it won't remain full width.
Ideally need to be able to see that custom width box as you have screenshotted but not sure it'll work as it will define whole post/page.
Found this:

Found the custom width box - in elements "layout" it brings the "whole" page in. It does not respect the full width top container which is linked with the elements "header".

Hi there,
the link you provided in the private information is 404ing Not Found.
Why not use the GenerateBlocks plugin to create your page? This will give you full control on a Full Width page to set whatever widths you require.
Because I have a number of posts and pages that will change to a new look and the remaining hurdle is trying to get top container to go full width while post beneath is say 800px

Yes - I can convert old posts to blocks but it is scrambling the format in places.
If this is not possible kindly advise.
When you open a classic post in the block editor it should output it inside a Classic Editor Block, which you could drag inside a Container Block.
That way you can build out the full width content with blocks whilst maintaining the classic content which can be updated to blocks at a later time.
I don't see how you can drag the whole classic post up into a new container - clicking in top part of post only selects this part and drags that up.
Are you saying to drag each individual part up into container block and do it that way as a way to not affect the format?
Clicking outside or around the post won't highlight the whole box to drag it up which is understandable as its not already in one big container.
I'll amend individually if cannot.
** To wrap up - Creating page hero's - in order for hero to merge with header this must work in tandem with adding a header element?
