There are several older site library themes e.g. Classic compared to recent additions such as Search.

- How do these differ?
- How are the older themes updated to support modern techniques & improvements?
- How do themes such as Marketer different to Search as it appears at the top of the list of options versus at the bottom (this assumes that this is an indication of currency)?

Hi there,

- The major difference in site library templates is just the styles.

For example, Classic is not using GenerateBlocks so it has a simpler layout and is perfect for a simple blog.

Search is using GenerateBlocks which allow you to create a modern style page.

- Yes - all templates are using the most recent theme and premium plugin version. For example, you can add GenerateBlocks to Classic no problem.

- The order of the templates is sorted by us manually.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks

Can GenerateBlocks be used to replace all the styles in the older site libraries? If yes, what are the recommendations to do so?

Is the order in which it's organized a reflection of the modern features?

Hi there,

The majority of the sites are using GenerateBlocks, those that DO NOT did not require the Block editor, so theres nothing really in those sites to update to Blocks.

The exclusions to that are obviously those using a Page Builder, and recreating those in GB would be a manual rebuild. Some Page Builder sites will get a GB version in the future.

The order of display, no logic to it, its just how Tom feels when a new site gets uploaded.

Thanks David. For clarity, which sites:

1) Use GenerateBlocks?
2) or the inverse do not use GenerateBlocks or are not block driven?

If the sites do not use blocks, what is utilized?

The assumption is that any site that uses Beaver Builder or Elementor do not use GenerateBlocks.

Off the top of my head the only non page builder sites that don't use GenerateBlocks are:

Classic
Marketeer
Tasty
Seller

All of those simply don't have any GenerateBlocks content on the site. They're just theme templates with standard WP block content on posts.

Thanks David.

You're welcome
