How do I remove side bars

Hi,
I have a ‘search’ box side bar and a ‘archives’ side bar and I can’t seem to get rid of them. I have looked under widgets and side bars and cannot find them. Can you help please?

Also, can you please tell me the best size images to upload for this theme, both featured images and general images for the body of the post?

This should help:

The image size depends on the container size and personal preference.

Your single post content container size is around 800px wide so a featured image around that size should fill the container.
