Readers are commenting on blog posts.
When I reply is given, however, they don't get any kind of email notification ...
How do I change this?

Hi Lucas,
The comment system is entirely handled by WP core so you will need to check the comments/discussion settings to see if this option is offered:
https://wordpress.org/support/article/comments-in-wordpress/
If not then you might need to look for a plugin that offers this option.
